ReclaimSA by Organising a Protest in Your Area

ReclaimSA is mobilising nationwide youth-led protests in response to the ongoing failures of the government. Our main actions will take place on 24 September in:

  • Pretoria (confirmed)
  • Johannesburg (TBC)
  • Durban (confirmed)
  • Pietermaritzburg (TBC)
  • Richards Bay (TBC)
  • Ladismith (TBC)
  • Gqeberha / Port Elizabeth (TBC)

But this movement is not limited to these cities — we are calling on youth across South Africa to organise and reclaim their futures in their own towns and communities.

📍Plan Your Protest

  1. Gather a small team of marshals (5-10 people, depending on how many people you are expecting) to help maintain safety and direction.
  2. Assign a convener (you or someone in your group).
  3. Select a government representative at your local municipality or district to whom the letter will be delivered (preferably the Mayor)

Submit Your Notice of Protest

You must submit a “Notice of Gathering” and your planned procession route to your nearest SAPS station (or to the designated municipal officer if applicable).

This is not a request for permission – it is your constitutional right to protest. This process ensures you are protected under the law.

⚠️ Submit your notice at least 48 hours in advance, but preferably 7 days before the protest. Be sure to

  • Get confirmation of receipt from SAPS
  • Request a formal response from your municipality (record this or ask them to respond in writing)

Keep copies of all submitted documents

🎯 What You’re Demanding

Our memorandum of demands will speak to:

  • Youth unemployment
  • Corruption and lack of service delivery
  • Failing education and healthcare systems
  • The deliberate sidelining of youth voices

The collapse of municipal infrastructure and governance

Add Your Route to Official #ReclaimSA Protest Routes

Here’s how you can support the movement:

Send your protest notices, letters of demand, or supporting community documents to #ReclaimSA. By submitting your documents, you help us build a central record of youth-led actions across the country, strengthen our case when engaging government, and ensure that communities everywhere can learn from and coordinate with one another. Every submission adds weight to our collective voice and helps us demonstrate that this movement is organised, legitimate, and unstoppable.

You can add your protest route by submitting copies of your submitted documents to info@youthreclaimsa.co.za so we can publish your route as one of the planned routes for the planned national peaceful protest for economic youth inclusion’s central archive and support organisers across the country. You are not alone, and we are uniting to demand immediate, effective government change.

📅 24 September is not just a day of protest. It's a day of reckoning!
